Simple words that carry gratitude, warmth, and hope.
Whenever we speak with people in Ukraine, we often hear the same sentence at the end of the conversation: “Take care of yourselves. It is very important.” These simple words carry warmth – and a quiet strength.
Especially during the winter months, when cold and darkness shape everyday life, every form of support becomes even more tangible. In December, we received a message from a shelter for schoolchildren: “Without light and warmth, the children cannot learn,” the school director wrote.
Thanks to the support made possible by our donors, a generator was delivered. Today, the children are back at their desks – learning, laughing, and experiencing a sense of normality despite the circumstances.
In another location, in Zaporizhzhia, we support children with special needs. One mother shared: “At last, my child has the medication they urgently need.”
Often, it is the small things – medical equipment, essential medicines, developmental games. Yet for families on the ground, these mean safety, hope, and a future.
Gratitude in many voices
The impact of our work is reflected in the voices of those we support:
Veronika smiles as she says: “Since summer, I’ve been able to join an online photography club. It’s just a small piece of normal life – but for me, it feels like a gift.”
A school principal tells us: “Only 45 kilometers from the front line – and the children come to school every day. I see how they continue to grow, despite everything.”
An endocrinologist explains: “In remote regions, I can now offer regular diabetes check-ups. Every examination matters.”
These stories show what shared solidarity can achieve: support that is immediate, meaningful, and deeply human. Again and again, we hear the same words from Ukraine: “Thank you for staying with us. It is not something we take for granted.”
We would like to pass this gratitude on to you. You are the ones making hope, safety, and education possible. Ukraine Recovery Aid will continue to stand alongside the people of Ukraine in the year ahead – and we are grateful to walk this path together with you.
We wish you health, strength, and peace. Take care of yourselves – it is very important!
