Communications & Media Relations.
Olja studied communications and law. In March 2022, shortly after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, she initiated our organisation’s first humanitarian collection.
The response from Lenzburg and the surrounding area was immense: instead of the originally planned number of transports, three times as many trips were ultimately required to deliver the aid to Ukraine.
Only a week later, Olja travelled to the Slovak–Ukrainian border to bring her grandmother and aunt to Switzerland – at a time when the Russian army was attempting to capture Kyiv.
Born in Ukraine and raised in Switzerland, Olja’s bicultural background strongly shapes her commitment. Alongside her professional work in communications, she dedicates herself with great determination and a clear stance to providing sustainable support for the people of Ukraine.

Why is the mission of Ukraine Recovery Aid personally important to you?
As a native Ukrainian, I am deeply moved by the images and stories coming out of Ukraine. I believe it’s important not to remain in a state of helplessness, but to be an active part of a movement that brings hope, structure, and support. Ukraine Recovery Aid does exactly that.
What has brought you the most joy in your volunteer work with Ukraine Recovery Aid so far?
The encounters and the shared energy. Working together towards something greater is deeply rewarding.
Who inspires you most in life—and why?
My mother. She has faced upheaval and hardship, yet never lost her strength or her willingness to help others. Her outlook on life is my inner compass.
What are you especially looking forward to in your role with Ukraine Recovery Aid this year?
I look forward to making an impact where it’s needed and continuing to work with the board to ensure our aid has a lasting effect.
How do you most enjoy spending your free time?
With my horses or my dog Diesel. I have a fantastic circle of friends and love spending time with them. Sometimes (though admittedly not very often) I also enjoy a quieter moment – with a good book and a cup of black tea with honey.
