Marcel Altherr

Board Member & Fundraising.

Marcel works as a business consultant and university lecturer. The brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine deeply shocked him – an attack on a civil society that was able to grow in Ukraine, something Russia itself has never achieved.

Although Marcel would most like to support Ukraine’s defense forces, Swiss legislation does not allow such direct aid. Therefore, he has deliberately chosen to channel his commitment into humanitarian support.

For him, this is not just about clearly condemning the war politically. Marcel is convinced that humanitarian aid is indispensable: millions of Ukrainians suffer from ongoing bombardments, displacement, and destroyed infrastructure. In light of this tragedy, he sees concrete relief measures – such as medical care, education projects, or reconstruction – not only as a moral duty but as a necessary act of European solidarity.

In Marcel’s view, those who remain silent or inactive today share responsibility. He believes that Ukraine is defending fundamental values that affect all of us in Europe. That is why he considers it a shared obligation to stand by the people who are paying the price for peace and freedom today.
